Media orgs serve notice to APCC
ITANAGAR, Dec 12: Taking cognizance of the incident in which journalists were rebuked and alleged of being BJP party members by a Congress member while discharging their duties on the frontlines on Dec 12, the press fraternity of the state has taken a stern view and served a notice seeking clarification on the Arunachal Pradesh Congress Committee.
The press fraternity comprising of Arunachal Pradesh Union of Working Journalists, Arunachal Press Club and Arunachal Electronic Media Association vehemently condemns the incident.
It is to be reminded that around the 2014 General Elections, the press fraternity had lodged a complaint with the State Chief Election Officer against APCC for trying to bribe the journalists present after a press conference/briefing at Rajiv Gandhi Bhawan, Itanagar.
The repeated undermining of the press by the Congress party is a serious threat to
democracy, which the press fraternity believes is a thinly veiled attack on the freedom
of expression -

NPF warns against political fighting
ITANAGAR, Dec 12: Nyishi People’s Forum (NPF) cautioned all political parties and various organizations not to carry forward political fightings or indulge in such activities under the banner of Nyishi community.
Reminding the death of a member of the community at IG Park during the uprising against the Jarbom Gamlin Government in October, 2011, the NPF warned everyone against repetition of such unpleasant incident.
BEO dies of illness
ITANAGAR, Dec 12: Roshan Dijo, a Block Education Officer (BEO), attached to DDSE office, West Kameng district died at a hospital in Shillong due to illness on December 11. Late Dijo is survived by two sons and daughter.
Born at Rurang village under Nefra circle on Dec 20, 1974, Late Dijo did his graduation from Rajiv Gandhi University and post graduation in Political Science from Delhi university. He joined the education department as teacher in 1997 and subsequently appointed as BEO in 2009. Meanwhile, Arunachal Block Education Officer Forum (ABEOF) deeply mourned the death of its executive member and BEO Roshan Dijo.
ZCC organised mass carol at Ziro
ZIRO, Dec 12: The 13th Joint Mass Carol procession was organised by the Ziro Christian Council (ZCC) on Dec 12 evening at Ziro.
Around 1500 Christians from different denominations participated in the annual event. The carol procession which started from Old Ziro culminated at Abotani Hall, Haopolyang.

Relief material distributed
ITANAGAR, Dec 12: Relief materials like rice, blankets and utensils were distributed to one Samtu Simai of Jairampur, 16 Mile whose house was completely gutted in a devastating fire on the midnight of Dec 10, by the All Changlang District Students’ Union (ACDSU) today.
The ACDSU has further appealed to the authorities concerned to provide adequate compensation to the victim at the earliest.

Bill on refugee issue or will stall Assembly: AAPSU
ITANAGAR, Dec 12: Expressing apprehension over the uncaring attitude of the state
government on the contentious Chakma-
“We will not allow the Assembly session to function normally till the government introduces a bill to oppose settlement of refugees in the state,” AAPSU President Kamta Lapung said in the statement.
The executive body of the union which met here on Friday, unanimously resolved to demand the government to introduce a bill in the Assembly on the settlement issue of the refugees.

JACAP asks NES not to incite communal sentiment

ITANAGAR, Dec 12: Jumping into the bandwagon against Nyishi Elite Society (NES) for targeting the Governor, Joint Action Committee of Arunachal Pradesh (JACAP) Chairman Lokam Tassar today expressed shock at NES statement stating that Society is communalising the political movement to save the Chief Minister Nabam Tuki.
Addressing the media persons at Press Club here, JACAP Chairman said that NES being registered NGO under Society Registration Act 1860, is not supposed to incite communal sentiment in a political movement. Condemning the society, Tassar termed the NES statement as ‘irresponsible and highly condemnable’ by all.
He added that Nyishi being the largest community in the state should lead the state in all front including peace, communal harmony and development.
Citing the Pradeep Thakur issue, former Koloriang MLA alleged that NES had already lowered the community’s image by inciting violence to topple late Jarbom Gamlin from the post of Chief Minister.
He said that NES is deviating from its main objectives, saying that instead of taking up social and cultural and economic issues, the society is inclined more to politics which is absolutely a wrong precedence.
He further informed the media persons that JACAP will lodge FIR against the NES and its members for violating Central Service Rules and Society Registration Act 1860 pointing out that one third of NES members are government employees.
JACAP Vice Chairman Ngurang Taka also informed that they will write to Chief Secretary against NES for appropriate action. On the reported impeachment motion moved against the Deputy Speaker, JACAP claimed that it is planted by the Speaker so that it contradicts with his impeachment motion.
NES defers protest rally, questions Governor
ITANAGAR, Dec 12: The Nyishi Elite Society has decided to defer the proposed Protest Rally of Dec 14 citing the latest turn of events. The rally was proposed to press for recall of the incumbent Governor, J.P Rajkhowa by NES stating that the Governor was being partial to call the sixth sitting of the Legislative Assembly from Dec 16th to 18th and target Speaker Nabam Rebia for impeachment while uplifting the Deputy Speaker who too faces impeachment motion. No subsequent date for the rally was given by NES.
In a release, NES reiterated that it was a blatant lie by Governor JP Rajkhowa in saying that he was unaware of the impeachment motion against the Deputy Speaker, whereas, both the impeachment motions are under the scrutiny of the Secretary, Legislative Assembly.

It said NES should rather focus in building pan Arunachal identity to integrate, unit and instill feeling of brotherhood and oneness among the different communities of the state.
SAYA suggested that NES should desist itself from associating with the political race for the post of CM and Speaker which would neither benefit the Nyishi community nor it will do good for entire community of the state.

AAPSU, GSU object to celebration of
‘Dhemiji Utsav’ in Arunachal land
ITANAGAR, Dec 12: All Arunachal Pradesh Students' Union (AAPSU) and Galo Students' Union (GSU) have strongly objected to ‘forceful’ celebration of ‘Dhemaji Utsav' 2016 within the territorial jurisdiction of Aunachal Pradesh and demanded the State Government to deploy police in the affected area and evict the festival organisers from the proposed festival venue.
Informing that the organizing committee of Dhemaji Utsav' is forcibly trying to celebrate the ‘Dhemaji Utsav’ from January 7 to 10 on the bank of Jiadhal (Dolok) River in the foothills of Kangku circle, AAPSU’s Communal Harmony & Border Affairs Secretary and GSU in a complaint letter to the Chief Secretary demanded not to allow celebration of ‘Utsav' within the territorial jurisdiction of Aunachal Pradesh and immediate eviction of the organising committee from Kangku.
